Power Thru the Day Smoothie With Kiwi

Looking for something nutritious to get you thru the day?  This smoothie will do just that.  Kiwi gives this smoothie it's pretty green color and makes it extra powerful.  One medium kiwi or 1/2 cup provides the body 230% of the RDA for vitamin C.  That's nearly twice the vitamin C of an orange.  Vitamin C is essential for iron absorption, maintaining healthy bones, and wound healing.  Kiwi is also a great source of fiber, vitamin E, magnesium, potassium, and copper, all of which provide benefits to our cardiovascular and respiratory systems.  

We tossed a few kale leaves into this smoothie to see if our picky veggie eaters would notice.  As luck would have it, the wonderful flavors of the other ingredients hid the super green deliciously.  Bonus!

In a blender add..

(2 servings)

  •  1 c crushed ice
  • 1/2 c almond milk
  • 2 kiwi
  • 1 mango
  • 1 banana, frozen
  • 2 teaspoons almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 c kale, loosely packed, stems removed (you can also use spinach)
