Healthy Baked Tortilla Chips

Making homemade tortilla chips is a great way to get the whole family cooking in the kitchen.  When our children are given small cooking tasks they gain more confidence and interest in the kitchen.  We like to put our little chefs in charge of cutting the tortilla shells into chip-sized pieces while we handle the more difficult duties.  These healthy baked tortilla chips are delicious by themselves or served with a side of homemade salsa.



(Makes 64 chips)

1 package corn tortillas

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 lime, juiced

½ teaspoon cumin, ground

1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground

sea salt, to taste


1.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2.  Cut each tortilla into 8 chip-sized wedges.  Layer a cookie sheet with parchment paper and arrange the wedges in a single layer.

3.  In a small bowl, combine the oil and lime juice.  Mix well and drizzle over tortilla wedges.

4.  Combine the cumin, cinnamon, and sea salt in a small bowl.  Sprinkle on top of chips.
